CICS is a background screening agency committed to restoring humanity to an industry often defined by data alone. With expertise and empathy, they take a holistic approach—looking deeper to bring each candidate’s full story to the surface.
To express what sets CICS apart, my team and I developed a brand narrative inspired by deep-sea exploration and the work of Marie Tharp—whose groundbreaking maps revealed what lay beneath the surface of the ocean. This concept became the foundation for the visual and verbal identity: a brand that merges science with humanity, insight with empathy.
I designed the full visual system, including logo, iconography, texture, illustration, and website, all centered around themes of depth, dimension, and clarity. I was also deeply involved in expressinf key differentiators for the company, including collaborating with a developer to bring the company’s Proprietary Way to life as an animated graphic on the website. To support long-term consistency, I created a comprehensive brand guide and led the CICS team through it to ensure the brand could be confidently carried forward.
